Recipe: Canna-Caramel Pecan Pralines

Here’s a special treat straight from the Southern US, re-mixed the PNW way as a super-simple edible - Pecan Pralines, made with our cannabis caramels! These handheld sweets are infused with our Active cannabis caramel variety (available at retailers across Oregon), made with Blue Dream strain-specific Canna-Butter and Pinene and Limonene terpenes, for a grab-and-go snack before any activity that you need a little pick-me-up for! This recipe is super simple, just 4 ingredients and 3 steps, and quick to make - buying pre-toasted pecans cuts the time below 30 minutes from beginning to end!

This recipe will make about 8 large pralines with an approximate THC dose of 12.5mg each (if 2 Periodic caramels are used), so you may want to split a praline in half if your THC tolerance is on the lower side, or double the amount of pralines you portion the mixture into to create half-dosed mini-pralines. When in doubt, as with all edibles, start low and go slow on consuming to avoid accidental over-consumption, and if you do find yourself feeling the effects of a THC over-consumption, use the tactics in our blog post to help yourself feel better.

Ingredients

1 cup pecans, raw or pre-toasted
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
9 oz caramel candies, unwrapped
2-3 Periodic edibles Active Cannabis Caramels

Directions

  1. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper, or set out paper baking cups to control praline sizing if available. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Toast pecans until just aromatic, about 5 minutes. Be careful to watch the toasting process, as pecans burn easily. Set pecans aside to cool while you prepare the caramel sauce.

  2. Over a gentle double-boiler in a large glass bowl, melt the non-cannabis caramels until mostly melted. Add the Periodic edibles and stir constantly to fully incorporate the cannabis compounds into the full caramel batch. Once the caramels are fully combined and melted, remove from heat and add in butter and vanilla extract quickly. Stir completely to fully incorporate the ingredients before mixing the pecans into the mixture.

  3. Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup or similarly-sized scoop, portion out the mixture evenly into baking cups or onto the parchment paper with adequate space between each scoop. Allow the pralines to set for at least 1 hour, until fully set, before serving. To remove pralines from baking cups easily, refrigerate for 15-20 minutes and slowly peel off paper cups. Wrap leftovers individually in wax or parchment paper before storing.
